The B&B

The Palazzo

Catania Center B&B occupies the first floor of a historic palazzo in the heart of Catania, one kilometre from the cathedral and from the baroque old town recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Climbing its stairs, the street is left behind for something quieter: the rooms have balconies and private bathrooms, set along a calm corridor away from the traffic below.

The palazzo's most valuable feature is the Aurora suite, where an eighteenth century frescoed vault, attributed to artists of the Etna baroque school, opens above the bed in stucco work, pale blue and gold that time has left untouched. Catania, the city visible from the palazzo's windows, is the birthplace of the composer Vincenzo Bellini: the streets of the old town, rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake in the same baroque language shared across the Etna valley, begin just outside the front door.
